Shoot #2.

Today I filmed my back-up plan, but sadly I have no photographs to post =[
Meh, oh well..atleast I got some more footage done.

I used just Alan today, and it went well. I got some good shots of him flicking through pieces of paper, writing stuff and so on. I was aiming for a variety of close-ups, representing his anxiety. I wanted to create this illusion of my character staying late at work, trying to figure out what exactly he's going to do. To start with I got a long-spot, but slowly zoomed in, as when it comes to post-production I wish to place other shots inbetween.

I'm happy with what I got today. Hopefully filming next week.

AHH

Okay so tomorrow's the deadline for everything to be filmed..and one of my actors tells me he cannot film!!!!!
AHHH.
Well I'm not freaking out too much, because I don't have only one back-up plan I have TWO!

Plan number 1
Beg another teacher to take Henry's place

Plan number 2
Just stick to using Alan! I was thinking about it today and I kinda like the idea of focusing on Alan and his thoughts. I could try all sorts of things such as voice-overs and close-ups.

So..

Things to do tomorrow
Talk to Alan
Talk to Nina
Talk to someone in religon
FILM

and on top of all of that, I have to edit my piece for film studies!!!!!

Monday 26 January 2009

Almost there..

If all goes to plan I should be done and dusted this week, leaving me next week to edit and such :)

Things to do
- get hands on the same light I used
- finish script
- choose music
- props

"You look like a real director man!"

I love this photograph :) Credit to Jamie for taking it. I loved Callums reaction once he saw this hence the post title. (Click to see bigger)

Parents Consultation Day was goooooood :) I didn't really know what to expect, but it went alright.
I stayed in school hoping to edit and sort out what I have done already. Unfortunately I couldn't so I uploaded a bit and photoshopped some images I posted on my other blog :)

Okay so in terms of filming I need to once again find a different day to film. Which isn't that much of a problem as I need to sort out my script. I need to structure it a bit more like a REAL script. Which is fair enough, I guess I was a bit lazy when it came to script-writing. It was a bit rushed and last minute if I am honest. So in a way I am glad I am not filming again til next week. Although I am really eager now to film again. For now I am looking at my dad's Extras book. It's full name being Extras: The Illustrated Scripts for series one and two! It is really funny reading it and it is also a really good guideline. I should really start this now but I have photography to do D=

I will edit the script in Friday's lesson :)

I am starting to love film noir abit too much

My noir inspired self-portrait :)
As I have been looking at film noir for several weeks now I just felt the need to try out some photographs. I have done a few now, but I feel this is the most successful. I know it looks like I am stretching or leaning back but I really like it. Credit to Jamie to taking this photo although I felt the need to crop it a bit as my stomach is sticking out.

I also played around with the contrast slightly.

Fog Machine

I WANT IT.
It worked brilliantly.

Test Shots

I haven't posted anything for a while. I have been so wrapped up in organization and planning.
It's all starting to look good after first day of filming. So I am a little more relaxed and looking forward to filming again Thursday. I had my crew; Jamie, Callum and Oliver with me.

Whilst we was waiting on Leanne to arrive, I decided to get anything ready and mess about with the lighting and framing & such. Callum kindly brought in his light reflector, so w
e experimented for a while and eventually got it all to work.

I am really happy with the lighting. Of course when it comes to post-production it is going to look better. I plan to make the footage black and white, but I may do something similar to Sin City and leave some elements red.

Script & Shootings

Okay, I am finally ready to film!

Tuesday I am going to film Leanne, my femme fatale. I am going to film a few close-ups of her heels, and legs and such.

Then on Thursday I am going to film Alan and Henry and their conversation.

Then on Friday I should be filming the title credits, allowing me to edit the week after.

I still need to decide on music though.

Music

Okay, I've got an extra week to organize!
Unfortunately due to copyright laws, I cannot use the music I wanted to.

Apparently, this problem has occured many times, so I have been looking at CDs my teachers own. I found this Film Noir & B-Movie album and I am now listening to it. I can't decide on what to use. I like the first few tracks, I may decide to use a bit of everything.

The tracks I like are the following:

Fear Street - Epic, grandiose, movie drama. String flourishes, brass stabs.

Dark Depths - Dreamy tension, melancholy, delicate woodwind and tremolo strings.

Indigo - Lazy sax refrain, hopeless, wandering, building optimism.

"Hard Work Never Killed Anyone"

but why take the chance?

Almost the end of the first week back at school, and despite the amount of work building up it has been good. I'm back into the swing of things and just need to get organised.

Here is a list of things I need to do, some I have already done:

Things to do

Casting
Character profiles/photographs
Screen tests (Warhol Style)
Dialogue/script/stage directions, etc.
Sort out location
Sort out date to film
Find bitches helpers :)
Tidy up storyboard/sort out order
Blog all this :)

All this has to be done and dusted by the end of January!
NO PRESSURE.
